The company was started in 2003 (under the trade name Jigsaw) by asking salespeople to contribute their customer and prospect names in exchange for access to Jigsaw's aggregated prospect universe. In April 2010, the company was acquired by salesforce.com for $142 million. Today, salespeople can set up a free account to access the database, where they can earn points by helping to maintain its quality.
